Part 2 – bringing it all together

Part 2 consists of ten days of intensive but enjoyable training. The two separate weeks are held approximately a month apart and include the observation of therapy sessions given by HG tutors with real patients.

The profound teaching style and practical approach is highly stimulating and generates much extra-curricular thought and discussion.

During both weeks you will have plenty of opportunity to expand upon and consolidate the knowledge and skills you have obtained on the previous Part 1 courses (there are many practical one-to-one and group exercises) and learn how to subtly combine them into powerful therapy sessions that will empower those you work with to take back control of their lives.

This supervised training (the tutors are assisted by course facilitators, who are Diploma graduates using the human givens approach in their work) ensures that you absorb what you need to know to work as effectively as possible.

As well as the lectures, discussions, therapy demonstrations and practical exercises, there is a comprehensive Diploma Manual, which students are expected to have read in full before attending the first week, and a course reading list.

Throughout the two weeks students are continually assessed, and there is a 2-hour written examination at the end of the final week.

Students find the whole learning experience inspiring and helpful, for both personal and professional reasons, and enjoy meeting and working closely with like-minded people – many of whom become friends for life!

Requirements

You will need to have completed all of the courses that make up Part 1, and the required elements of the reading list, before attending Part 2.

NB If you started working towards the Human Givens Diploma before January 2019, and were doing free-choice Part 1 courses, don’t worry these still count towards your Part 1 – please call the office to discuss.

Course fees

The fee for Part 2 is £3,984*. This includes your tuition with 2 tutors, a comprehensive course manual, vat, the examination, refreshments and lunch on all 10 days. You will need to pay a registration fee of £600 when you apply. This amount is then deducted from the total course fee, but it is non-refundable and non-transferrable.

* NB from 2024 the Part 2 course fee will be £4,385 .

Qualification

When you have successfully completed both Parts 1 & 2 you will be awarded the Human Givens Diploma (HG.Dip.) and will need to join the HGI as a Graduate Member (GHGI).

Please note: If you intend to see clients whilst working towards Part 3, you must make your trainee status clear by calling yourself HG.Dip.P.(Trainee).

Your route to an Accredited Register

Once you’ve successfully completed Part 2 of the Human Givens Diploma, you can proceed to the Practitioner Level Qualification: Part 3.

Passing this practical assessment of competence enables you to become a Registered Membership of the HGI and be entered on the Professional Register of Human Givens Therapists, which is accredited in the UK by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA).

With recent changes to the profession, it is now vital that all counsellors and therapists belong to an Accredited Register recognised by the Professional Standards Authority (a government body) – which also oversees the General Medical Council, BACP, UKCP and many others.
